But the reality is that IVF pregnancy often comes with its own set of additional challenges and concerns.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>IVF Pregnancy &#8211; 7 Things You Need to Know<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">What do you need to be aware of and prepare for when it comes to your IVF success story?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">1. An energy crash.<\/span> <\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">IVF is a physically <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/causes-of-exhaustion.htm\">exhausting<\/a> process, and a rollercoaster of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/high-expectations.htm\">expectations<\/a>. After the joy of the good news, you might feel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/burnout-symptoms-treatment-tips.htm\">emotionally exhausted<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>It\u2019s even normal to suddenly feel terrified about what happens next.<\/strong> Somehow, in all the worry about getting pregnant, there\u2019s been no time to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/worry-and-anxiety-difference.htm\"> worry<\/a> about pregnancy itself. Some women might even not want to engage with the idea that they are pregnant. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><span class=\"s2\">2<\/span><span class=\"s1\">. Heightened fears of miscarriage.<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">When you\u2019ve had to go through so much to get this far, it\u2019s understandable that fears of miscarriage can be heightened. Plus there\u2019s the concern that should you miscarry, you might find it harder than other women to get pregnant again. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\" style=\"color: #333399;\">So it\u2019s extremely commonplace to switch your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/signs-of-anxiety-disorder.htm\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">anxiety<\/span><\/a> about whether you\u2019ll ever <i>get <\/i>pregnant to whether you will <i>stay <\/i>pregnant for the full term. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p4\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span class=\"s3\">You can find yourself:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s3\"> wondering what every small ache or pain might be<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">over analysing every sensation you feel in your uterus<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">constantly visiting the loo to check there is no bleeding (although note that very small amounts of bleeding can be normal)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">concerned that anything you do could trigger miscarriage \u2013 worrying about carrying a bag, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/low-sex-drive-2.htm\">having sex<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/how-to-exercise-more.htm\">exercising<\/a>, something you\u2019ve eaten. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><span class=\"s4\">3<\/span><span class=\"s1\">. They can trigger additional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/quiz-stressed-or-depressed\">stress<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><span class=\"s4\">4<\/span><span class=\"s1\">.Feeling<a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/why-do-i-feel-guilty-all-the-time.htm\"> guilty<\/a> when complaining of pregnancy discomforts.<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\" style=\"color: #333333;\">You have jumped over so many hurdles for so long to get pregnant. It\u2019s tempting to think you should spend the entire nine months in a state of unbridled joy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Of course the realities of<\/strong> morning sickness, tiredness, stretch marks and more are just the same for you as anyone who conceived without IVF. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\" style=\"color: #800080;\">There\u2019s no obligation to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/benefits-of-positive-thinking.htm\">constantly positive<\/a> about the trickier aspects of pregnancy. Complaining occasionally doesn\u2019t mean you want your baby any less. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><span class=\"s4\">5<\/span><span class=\"s1\">.Pressuring yourself to be 100% happy in the first weeks and months of your IVF baby\u2019s life.<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n<div id=\"attachment_114271\" style=\"width: 276px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-114271\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-114271\" src=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/wp-content\/uploads\/15959918722_12259753b3-266x400.jpg\" alt=\"ivf success\" width=\"266\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/wp-content\/uploads\/15959918722_12259753b3-266x400.jpg 266w, https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/wp-content\/uploads\/15959918722_12259753b3.jpg 332w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 266px) 100vw, 266px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-114271\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">By: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/robinsalman\/15959918722\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer\" \">Robin Salman<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Caring for a new baby can be exhausting, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/stress-vs-depression.htm\">stressful<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/7-surprising-reasons-feeling-lonely.htm\"> lonely<\/a> and wonderful in turn, no matter how your child was conceived. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>This might not be that perfect phase you imagined it to be. <\/strong>And you might not even fall in love with your baby straight away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>And an IVF success story does not make you immune to<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/postnatal-depression-symptoms-treatments.htm\">post-natal depression<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/negative-thinking.htm\">negative thinking<\/a>, where you even wonder if having a baby was the right thing to do at all.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Go easy on yourself. <\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/high-expectations.htm\">Have realistic expectations<\/a> and seek support if you\u2019re feeling overwhelmed or persistently low. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Talk to your partner, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/dealing-with-difficult-family-members-9-important-steps.htm\">family<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/i-feel-so-alone.htm\">friends<\/a> or a professional, such as your health visitor or a <a href=\"https:\/\/harleytherapy.com\/?utm_source=Harley%20Therapy%20Blog&amp;utm_content=Mid%20Post\">counsellor<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\" style=\"color: #993366;\">5. Experiencing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/jealousy-head.htm\">jealousy<\/a> towards other parents.<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s very common and understandable to feel envious of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/friendship-and-love.htm\">friends<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/dealing-with-difficult-family-members-9-important-steps.htm\">family members<\/a> who became pregnant relatively easily, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/she-or-he-doesnt-want-kids.htm\">have had as many children<\/a> as they wanted. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>These thoughts don\u2019t necessarily go away after IVF success.\u00a0 You might still feel <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/jealousy-head.htm\">jealous<\/a> of how much less stressful their journey to parenthood was, or how they have choices you don\u2019t have.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\" style=\"color: #993366;\">7. Feeling the strain on your relationship.<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">Pregnancy and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/bad-parents-are-you-one.htm\">parenthood<\/a> are a time of great change for any couple. For IVF parents there can be added <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/parental-stress.htm\">stress<\/a>. If <\/span><span class=\"s1\">one of you feels more<a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/effects-of-anxiety.htm\"> anxious<\/a> than the other about the baby, or is keener to try for another child?
