Darcy<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It&#8217;s not really that long ago that psychotherapy and counselling were viewed as something that should be kept a secret.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">But times have, thankfully, changed. More and more of us are benefiting from this useful tool for mental and emotional wellbeing.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">What are the most common reasons for having therapy?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Have you considered therapy, but weren&#8217;t sure if it was merited?<\/strong> Read on to discover popular reasons why you might end up in a therapy session.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Depression<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Often described as the \u201ccommon cold\u201d of mental health issues, depression can have many symptoms. Your thoughts will tend toward dramatic, paranoid, and incessant. You will feel panicky and fearful at the slightest thing, even if you can&#8217;t make sense of it.<\/p>\n<p>Feelings of anxiety can also manifest physical symptoms such as nausea, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/release-muscle-tension.htm\">muscle tension<\/a>, increased heart rate, and perspiration.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Addiction<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/addiction-help-guide.htm\">Addiction<\/a> is a serious issue that often requires the attention of a trained therapist or support group. Both kinds of support can help answer questions such as \u201cWhy me?\u201d and \u201cHow did this come about?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A therapist can also help target the triggers of addictive behaviours, and help you create a plan to avoid them.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Sexual issues<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>While some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/sexual-problems-help-guide.htm\">sexual issues<\/a> are physical, many are mentally and emotionally connected. So a therapist can really help here.<\/p>\n<p>You shouldn&#8217;t at all feel embarrassed, either. A<a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/sex-therapy-and-counselling-london.htm\"> therapist who specialises in sexual issues<\/a> is used to talking about any and all sexual problems that can arise.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Confidence<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Many people who turn to therapy do so because they have<a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/building-confidence.htm\"> issues with their self-confidence.<\/a> This can be down to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/what-is-childhood-trauma.htm\">unresolved childhood issues<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/addictive-relationships.htm\">harmful relationships<\/a>, and\/or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harleytherapy.co.uk\/counselling\/negative-thinking.htm\">automatic negative thoughts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Greater self-awareness<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Not everyone who comes to therapy has an issue. Some are just curious to understand themselves better, and therapy is very useful in this case.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Greater life balance<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Perhaps the greatest benefit to having therapy is achieving greater balance and harmony in life.<\/p>\n<p>This is often the surprise benefit of overcoming your life difficulties in the therapy room.
