Violeta is a Counsellor, Therapist and Clinical Supervisor who specialises in sexual and relationship difficulties, with over 22 years of experience.
Violeta’s areas of expertise are sexual problems. These include but are not limited to; vaginismus and dyspareunia or GPPD (genito pain and penetration disorders), erectile difficulties, problems with ejaculation control, issues and difficulties related to climax, problems in relation to libido and other sexually specific difficulties. She also works with couples exploring sexual issues and relationship dynamics. Her other areas of expertise include anxiety, stress, panic attacks, depression, bereavement, work issues and trauma. Violeta also specialises in substance misuse where she has extensive experience in community and non-community treatment programmes, as well as in private practice.
Violeta currently works in both NHS and Private Practice. She describes her approach as Integrative, which means that she incorporates her Humanistic Integrative Counselling Training with Sex Therapy. In practice, this means that Violeta sees therapeutic work as collaborative, relational, compassionate, challenging and rewarding where our bodies, emotions, thoughts, relationships and social conditioning are explored, examined and used to achieve a more satisfying life. It also means that Violeta uses practical tools in her therapeutic work advising clients about certain exercises, giving them resources and homework to give greater benefit from the experience.
Violeta studied Philosophy, but after graduating and gaining a Ba in Philosophy, decided to pursue further study on emotions and later more specifically sexuality. Her study included 4 years of post-graduate training in Humanistic Integrative Counselling and Psychosexual Therapy. She subsequently gained an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy and works with individuals, couples and groups.
Violeta is an accredited member and registered supervisor of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapy, a registered member of the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy and an accredited member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
