Maria Vella

Maria is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist working integratively, drawing from Psychodynamic and Existential approaches. She has worked in the field of counselling and psychotherapy in London and abroad since obtaining her Psychology degrees. She has worked for a number of organisations including London's Westminster MIND, Women's organisations, Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Services, and in the NHS. She practices at Harley Therapy in Harley Street. Her areas of speciality include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, couples work, abuse, anger and post-traumatic stress. She has a degree in Psychology, a Masters in Counselling Psychology and a post-MA Diploma in Existential-Phenomenological Counselling Psychology. She is Chartered with the British Psychological Society and registered with the Health Professions Council. She is a recognised provider with CIGNA, AVIVA and Pruhealth.

Elena Gil-Rodriguez

Dr Elena Gil-Rodriguez is a Counselling Psychologist who is both chartered by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). Elena practices within a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework and works primarily with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Elena is also trained in Humanistic and Psychodynamic approaches as well as having an interest in other "third-wave" cognitive therapies such as Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Elena has worked with adults in a variety of NHS and voluntary sector settings. This has involved short, medium and long-term CBT for a wide range of problems of varying severity. Elena's particular area of clinical interest is anxiety disorders, including generalised anxiety disorder, panic, social anxiety, health anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder. Elena also works with a range of other problems that include stress, self-esteem issues, depression, bereavement and loss, phobias, relationship difficulties, eating disorders, body image issues, work or career problems, chronic pain, anger management and insomnia. Elena was previously a pharmacist and worked in NHS hospitals in this capacity for around ten years before becoming a psychologist. She has a Graduate Diploma in Psychology and a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. In addition to being chartered by the BPS, she is also a full member of the Division of Counselling Psychology.

Melanie Demarco

B.Psych (Hons), MSc Counselling Psychology, MBACP (Accred), UKRCP Reg. Ind.

Melanie is a UKRCP registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist practicing mainly within a Psychodynamic perspective. She is also trained in Humanistic and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). She works with a diverse range of issues including anxiety, work stress, depression, trauma, abuse, bereavement and loss, relationship and self-esteem issues. She has worked in different organizations including NHS Primary Care, Drug and Alcohol Services, Staff Counselling Services as well as other charitable and private agencies. She has a degree in Psychology, a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Systemic Theory and a Masters in Counselling Psychology. She is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. She is a recognized provider with Pruhealth and Cigna.

Bernice Green

PG Dipl Psych, ADv Dip Psych, Cert PTSD Couns, MBACP (Accred), UKRCP Reg Ind

Bernice Green is a UKRCP Psychotherapist & Counsellor with 13 years of clinical experience. She works with individuals and couples presenting with a number of issues including anxiety, stress management, panic, depression, trauma, PTSD, health problems, chronic fatigue, bereavement, relationship difficulties, couple and marital issues. She has worked at the Whittington NHS Hospital Trust, the British College of Osteopathic Medicine, as an EAP counsellor (Employee Assistance Program), and in private practice. She has a postgraduate diploma in psychotherapy and an advanced Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapy. In addition, her qualification in Post Traumatic Counselling enables her to offer counselling for victims of road traffic accidents, violent incidents and other traumatic experiences. She is an experienced bereavement counsellor and also offers counselling for long term medical conditions and carers. Bernice has lectured in Psychology and Psychosomatics. She is BACP Accredited Counsellor and a Registered Independent Counsellor with UKRCP. She is a recognised provider with the major health groups: BUPA recognised counsellor / psychotherapist, CIGNA recognised psychotherapist, Standard Life recognised counsellor / psychotherapist and a Pruhealth recognised counsellor / psychotherapist.

Desiree Scarpellini

BA (Hons) Phil, Grad Dipl Psych, MSc Counselling Psychology.

Desiree is a Psychologist practicing mainly within a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework. She is also trained in Person-centred, Psychodynamic, Systemic and Integrative approaches. Desiree has worked with adults, older adults (over 65), couples and groups within a variety of NHS settings. This has involved short, medium and long-term therapy for a range of problems with varying severity. Desiree also has an interest in Mindfulness-based approaches, including Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR). She has experience in working with anxiety, abuse, alcohol and substance misuse, bereavement, depression, eating disorders, general health problems, obsessive compulsive disorders, phobias, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, self-harm, sexual problems, sexual health and problems associated with HIV infection, sleep disorders and stress management. She has a degree in Philosophy and postgraduate qualifications in Psychology and Counselling Psychology. She is currently writing up her thesis toward the attainment of Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. She is conditionally registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Laura Oates

Laura is a UKRCP registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist, practising mainly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy but also trained in Psychodynamic Counselling. She works with adults on a wide range of issues including anxiety, stress, panic, obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD), depression, anger management, relationship problems and self esteem and unresolved childhood issues. She has worked in the charitable sector in Westminster and in private practice. She has a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Law from Cambridge University. She has postgraduate qualifications in CBT and in Psychodynamic Counselling. She is accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Michelle Bassam

MA Psych & Counselling, Dipl CBT, Dipl Psycho-Sexual Therapy, Dipl Psychodynamic.

Michelle has over 12 years of clinical experience. She works with a wide range of issues including anxiety, panic, stress, anger management, self esteem, depression, clinical depression, relationship problems, multicultural issues, post traumatic stress (PTSD), loss and bereavement, abuse (sexual or mental), childhood memories, psycho-sexual problems, couple and marital issues (including same-sex couples). Michelle draws from Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic approaches, adapting to the clients needs. She also works in a Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) format, short to medium term. She has an MA in Psychology and Counselling and a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She has further Diplomas in Psychodynamic Counselling, and Psycho-Sexual & Relationship Therapy. She works independently within Private Practice, GP Surgeries and at Harley Therapy. She also runs small therapy groups and has lectured in Counselling. Michelle works with couples, individuals and adolescents. She is available for Telephone Counselling and works with many international clients.

Michelle Magri

BSc Psychology & Counselling

Michelle Magri is a chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the BPS. Her training has provided her with specialist knowledge and practice of Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), particularly Schema Therapy.  However, her approach is largely integrative and so she will draw on other therapeutic modalities (e.g. Psychodynamic, Humanistic) and psychological theory when necessary to understand someone’s presenting difficulties. She has worked in a variety of settings and client groups adopting either a time-limited framework working on a specific difficulty or working over a longer period of time on a range of difficulties. Michelle also works for East London Mental Health Trust working with individuals suffering with severe and enduring emotional difficulties. Michelle will provide an environment in which you feel understood and not judged but also one which is emotionally challenging. She believes that establishing a therapeutic relationship in which a client can feel safe is the cornerstone to her practice and believes this is fundamental in the process of change. Michelle is skilled in working on a range of psychological and emotional difficulties which include anxiety, OCD, PTSD, phobias, depression, personality disorder, self-harm, relationship difficulties, self-esteem issues, anger, eating disorders, substance abuse and dependency, traumatic experiences, transitional difficulties, sexual and emotional abuse. Michelle works with couples, adults and adolescence. She has a degree in Psychology and Counseling and is a member of the division of Counselling Psychology. She is currently conducting research on infidelity.

Pier Luigi Ceccarelli

Pier Luigi is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist who practices within an integrative framework, using Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Psychodynamic and Humanistic approaches. He has also an interest in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Schema Therapy. Pier has worked with adults, couples and groups in a variety of settings, including the NHS, private hospitals (The Priory), mental health organisations (MIND) and in the voluntary sector. 
His practice has involved short, medium and long term work with a range of emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties including depression, anxiety and panic attacks, agoraphobia, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), relationship issues, stress, anger, low self-esteem, abuse, eating disorders, self and sexual identity, sexual problems, HIV issues, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He has degrees in Psychology and Languages and Foreign Literatures, a Master in Counselling Psychology and a post-MA Diploma in the Practice of Counselling Psychology. He is chartered with the British Psychological Society and registered with the Health Professions Council. He is a recognized psychologist with BUPA, AXA PPP, Pruhealth and Cigna.

Anna Spivack

DPsych, BSc (Hons), BPS (Accred)

Dr. Anna Spivack is a Doctor of Counselling Psychology, who practices mainly within Person Centred and Integrative frameworks. She is also trained in Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches, and Psychometric Testing. Anna has worked in the field of Psychology and Psychotherapy for ten years. She has worked with adults, adolescents and children, providing individual and group therapy. She has also worked with couples and families. Anna’s area of expertise is in eating disorders counselling; she has worked with people suffering with Eating Disorders, and carried out research in this area. She has experience of working with a range of other issues, including bereavement, terminal illness, health problems, relationship difficulties, anxiety and depression. She has worked in a number of NHS organisations, including Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Tavistock and Portman Clinics, and Guy’s Hospital and currently consults at Harley Therapy on Tuesdays. She has a degree in Psychology and a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. She is an accredited member of the British Psychological Society and a member of the Division of Counselling Psychology. She is registered with AXA PPP.

Caroline Powell

Caroline is a Counselling Psychologist and Existential psychotherapist. She has nine years of clinical experience working in two NHS primary care settings, with a focus on alcohol and substance use and co-occurring mental health and relational issues. Caroline’s training in the existential-phenomenological tradition underpins a CBT and solution-focussed approach that aims to raise awareness into the dynamics involved in co-dependent relationships using Mindfulness strategies. She incorporates commitment and behaviour strategies, to promote maintenance of change and recovery from addictive behaviours. Additionally Caroline works independently in private practice with couples and individuals who have relationship issues and/or who are struggling with separation and divorce, phobias, panic attacks, suicide attempts, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, sexual abuse, bereavement and loss, work-related stress, redundancy, retirement and anger management. She is a trainee group supervisor. Caroline is chartered with the BPS and is a full member of the Division of Counselling Psychology. She is registered with the Health Professionals Council (HPC) and has a Post-MA Diploma in Existential Counselling Psychology. She is a UKCP accredited Existential Psychotherapist and a member of BACP. Caroline is a recognized provider for BUPA, AXA PPP and AVIVA (Norwich Union) healthcare groups.

Myrto Tsakopoulou

Myrto is Counselling Psychologist specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She also integrates elements of Psychodynamic, Schema and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. She has over 10 years’ experience of working in the NHS and voluntary sectors with people with a variety of mental health problems. She has worked extensively with people with mild to moderate problems with depression and anxiety (e.g. stress, sexual difficulties, OCD, social phobia, health worries, work performance, anger management, skin picking, sleep problems), but also with people with forensic histories and severe mental health problems such as schizophrenia and personality difficulties. She has also worked with people who have suffered past abuse and Post-Traumatic Stress. She works with those whose difficulties impact on them not only on a personal level but also on their relationships and day to day functioning. Her approach is often directive but collaborative in nature; she works with the client not only in understanding the roots of their difficulties but also in challenging their unhelpful behaviours on a practical level. She has experience of working with individuals, couples and families. She has a Doctorate and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, a Master’s in Health Psychology, a Diploma in Forensic Mental Health and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She has conducted research in Personality Disorders and has received training in working with families and couples. She is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and the Health Professions Council. She in the process of obtaining accreditation by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). She is a recognised provider with Pruhealth.

Stefan Walters

MSc Counselling Psych, BSc (Hons) Counselling Psych, AFT, AAMFT, CAMFT

Stefan is a systemic counselling psychologist who specializes in couples counselling and family therapy. He has a wealth of experience working with issues such as abusive and dysfunctional relationships, fidelity, sexual addictions, compulsivity, and divorce. He is also, having studied on the prestigious Counselling Psychology Masters programme at San Diego State University, one of the few counsellors in the UK who can offer Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). This empirically supported approach has evolved out of emotion and attachment theory, and views emotions as centrally important in our behaviour; teaching us to better identify and make sense of our emotions so that we will be better able to manage our emotional experiences in the future. Stefan also has specialized training in Motivational Interviewing, Gestalt Therapy, Bowenian Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and is experienced in applying these therapies to a number of issues such as bereavement, anger management, mood disorders, trauma, addictions, anxiety, and depression. Stefan has an interest in social and restorative justice. He is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), as well as being a member of the Association for Family Therapy (AFT). He also continues to be a registered member of both the Californian and American Associations for Marriage and Family Therapy, and the Restorative Justice Mediation Program

Rebecca Spelman

Dr. Rebecca Spelman works using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to treat a range of difficulties with a particular interest in anxiety related disorders (panic, phobias, OCD, PTSD, GAD, health anxiety and social anxiety), depression, addictions, eating disorders and behaviour change. She has experience working for the NHS, non-profit organisations and in private practice. She is dedicated to providing evidence-based psychological treatment and therefore uses the most effective approaches to treatment based upon the best scientific evidence available. She has a strong interest in research and measuring therapeutic outcomes. She received her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of Teesside. She also gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (IAPT) from Royal Holloway, University of London and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology and a BSc in Psychology. She is registered with the Health Professions Council and is accredited with the BABCP. She is a recognised provider with many of the health insurance companies including AXA, Cigna, Aviva, Simplyhealth, CS Healthcare, Groupama Healthcare, National friendly, International Medical Group (IMG). Janet Hiscock

Janet is a chartered counselling psychologist with over 15 years of clinical experience, including work in both the NHS and private practice. Having trained at the Westminster Pastoral Foundation she practices mainly within psychodynamic and psychoanalytical frameworks however she is also trained in Cognitive and Behavioural, Humanistic, Integrative and Family Systematic therapies.  While she has spent over 12 years as part of a hospital specialist team tackling drug and alcohol addiction, Janet is also able to work with a diverse range of issues including anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, relationship problems, low self-esteem & confidence, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder,  schizophrenia, trauma and work-related issues. She is also a published author of “Beating Stress, Anxiety and Depression” (2008) in her work with Professor Jane Plant of Imperial College London. Janet is accredited by both the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), as well as being a member of the Institute for Learning. She is registered with the Health Professions Council and is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS). She is also a registered provider with AXA PPP.

Louise Clarke

Dr Louise Jane Clarke is a Chartered Psychologist by the British Psychological Society (BPS), accredited by the BABCP Society and registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). She is trained in a range of psychotherapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR Level 1 & 2). She also has an interest in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)and Schema Therapy. When choosing a therapeutic model for treatment, she refers to the evidence based practice guidelines, the outcome of a comprehensive psychological assessment and the client’s goals. Her approach is directive but collaborative, helping the patient to identify and challenge unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. Louise has worked at the Priory Hospital and a variety of NHS settings with adults, adolescents and groups. She works with a wide range of problems including anxiety, panic attacks, work related stress, clinical depression, low self esteem, relationship difficulties, loss and bereavement, social anxiety, bi-polar, schizophrenia, posttraumatic stress and personality disorders. Her particular area of interest is Borderline Personality Disorder. She acquired valuable experience by leading and implementing a new DBT service in the Priory Hospital. This has given her the skills in managing high risk behaviours and complex cases. She is a recognized Psychologist with the major health groups: AXA PPP, PruHealth and CIGNA.

Amy Bloxham

BSc Psychology (honours), DPsych Counselling Psychology, HPC registered.

Dr Amy Bloxham is a chartered Counselling Psychologist, who is also a member of the Division of Counselling Psychology (BPS) and HPC registered.  Amy has worked within the NHS for the last 8 years as well as other private and charitable organisations. Amy practices within an integrative framework, coming from a humanistic approach and incorporating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic ideas.  Amy has a continued interest in pursuing and developing her skills in other areas and thus draws upon other modalities such as Compassion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and other mindfulness based therapy approaches. Whilst working in the NHS Amy has worked with a large spectrum of client difficulties, ranging from mild to the more complex. She has worked with clients who have experienced psychosis, anxiety and phobias, OCD, Bipolar Affective Disorder, self harm, depression, personality disorders, eating disorders, PTSD and complex trauma.  Additionally she has worked within the area of learning disabilities and Autistic Spectrum disorders. Other psychological and emotional difficulties that Amy has worked extensively with are self-esteem issues, insomnia, bereavement, body image, identity, panic, relationship issues, stress, anger management, emotional and sexual abuse, and more specific areas such as vomit phobia and food phobias.  Amy works with adults and adolescents.  Amy has had experience of working with individuals, couples and families.  The length of therapy that has been offered has ranged from short to longer-term therapy dependent on client need and the approach undertaken. Amy very much values a collaborative therapeutic relationship and using the therapeutic relationship to enable change.

Sheri Jacobson

Sheri is Clinical Director of Harley Therapy. Her training spanned 10 years and has covered multiple perspectives. Her most recent degree was in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy London (Institute of Psychiatry). She has worked for MIND, MENCAP, a Women's Centre, an Alcohol Centre, for the NHS and with private clients. She has degrees in Social Anthropology (UCL), Philosophy, Politics & Economics (Oxford) and a PhD in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Regent's College). She is a Senior therapist accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy although she is not currently accepting new referrals.

Stephen Humphries

MBChB. FRCPsych, DipPsychotherapy

Dr Stephen Humphries is a Consultant Psychiatrist who has 26 years of medical experience. He has practised General Adult Psychiatry at Consultant level within the NHS for 17 years, including 7 years as a Medical Director. He has an interest in Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy and the management of personality disorders. He has in depth experience of the complete spectrum of mental health conditions including stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, personality disorders, OCD, phobias, psychosis, schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, self-harm, sexual problems, sleep disorders, chronic fatigue syndrome, eating disorders, alcohol and substance misuse, anger management, and general health problems. Dr Humphries has completed many Medico Legal Reports over the length of his career, and has a particular interest in personal injury claims. He has a national profile as Associate Director and National Lead for New Ways of Working in Psychiatry within the National Institute for Mental Health in England. In his role Dr Humphries has written extensively and made major contributions to important Department of Health documents and best practice guides. He offers private consultations as an expert London Psychiatrist and runs a specialist Adult Attention Deficit Disorder Clinic in Harley Street. He is a recognised provider with the following insurance groups: BUPA, Cigna, Standard Life, Pruhealth, Aviva (Norwich Union) and WPA.
