Beverly is a specialist psychotherapist in family, couple and systemic psychotherapy. She is also trained in the psychodynamic model and uses CBT in her practice, allowing her to adapt her therapeutic approach to the needs of the individual.
In clinical practice since 2005, Beverly combines working in the NHS, in Complex Care Adult Mental Health, with private practice. She has also previously worked in a legal context supporting families transitioning through the process of divorce. Along with her psychotherapeutic practice, Beverly is a consultant and visiting lecturer at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust, where she is a supervisor and teacher of systemic psychotherapy to other healthcare professionals.
She specialises in working with individuals, couples and families facing relationship distress and difficulties communicating interpersonally often as a result of relationship breakdown, couple-conflict, a mental health condition, or the impact of a mental health condition on other family members. She also works in long-term therapy with individuals who have found themselves stuck or struggling to make the changes they would like to enhance their lives.
Beverly is skilled in working on a range of psychological and emotional difficulties from common mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, stress, interpersonal problems, panic disorders, phobias and obsessive compulsive disorder to less common conditions, such as psychosis including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, specific addictions, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and personality disorders.
Beverly works with her clients to create a shared understanding of the causes and maintenance of their difficulties, in order to find ways forward to relieve symptoms or distress and improve wellbeing. She uses her clinical expertise, client’s goals and evidence-based practice guidelines to define the optimum treatment approach and ensure the process and duration of therapy is tailored to meet the needs of the client.
Beverly is a UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) registered psychotherapist, a member of AFT (Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice) and the College of Family Couple and Systemic Therapy. She is also an accredited Mediator (Institute of Family Therapy) and Systems-Psychodynamic Coach, EMCC accredited (European Mentoring and Coaching Council).
